Business Analyst analyze the requirements/initiatives based on the stakeholders input which intend help them to meet IT solution. Whereas Business Architect tries to identify gaps in business capabilities and they initiate efforts to fill those gaps.
Business analyst is required to understand the problems of a business area and to document the requirements of the business in solving them. BA is not accountable for the problem, however he is responsible for understanding the problem and documenting the requirements that the solution must meet. Business Architect is responsible to identify the business capabilities, who tries to insure that departments and divisions are using IT resources or applications correctly by asking for the right problems to be solved.
Here are the basic differences between Business Analyst and Business Architects.
- Architects try to identify Business Capabilities | Whereas BA identifies Business Requirements and Rules
- Architects must have strong understanding of business functional issues | BA should have strong understanding of information & requirement elicitation
- Architects analyze the business by capturing there capabilities | BA analyze the business by interviewing the Business Stakeholders
